Wales’ hub for mental wellbeing self-help resources & support services
Melo came to fruition at the end of 2020, a much needed port of mental wellbeing self-help and support services. From resources to courses, the Melo website guides users to finding helpful content to improve their mental wellbeing.
Positioning
Ever since launch, Melo aims to position itself as the most reliable source of self-help, appealing both to people referred by medical professionals, as well as the general public that just wants to improve their mental wellbeing. As a Public Health Wales product, it was important to be inclusive and especially mindful of any inequalities in mental health struggles, such as stigmatised attitudes, geographical limitations, disabilities and others.
In order to be seen as a space where one can feel supported and empowered to take steps and improve their mental health, Melo has developed a warm and understanding tone of voice. Each brand expression is carefully checked against a number of personas to ensure content is as inclusive as possible. As the main illustrator of the brand, I ensured to include a diverse range of characters and relationships between them.
Website Restructure
A growing brand led to growing responsibilities. I took charge of restructuring Melo Cymru's website, focusing on adaptability to changing societal needs and improved user journey. As a result, we saw a 28% boost in monthly users and redirected internal resources towards more effective social media advertising, all while keeping bilingual and accessibility standards in mind.
